Born on the 30th of July, 1947, Arnold Schwarzenegger was baptized as a Roman Catholic as Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger. He was born in Thal, Austria, a small village bordering Styrian capital Graz. His parents were Gustav Schwarzenegger, a local police chief, and his wife Aurelia Jadrny then aged 23, a widow with a son named Meinhard. Arnold grew up in a Roman Catholic family and attended church service every Sunday. However, growing up, Arnold wanted something different for his life. His father wanted him to become a policeman while his mom wanted him to go to trade school. But Arnold has a different plan, he wanted to move out of Austria to become rich and become somebody. It was in 1966 when he started to compete in the Mr. Universe contest however, it was the year after when he first won the title becoming as the youngest Mr. Universe at the age of 20 under Charles “Wag” Bennett as his coach. He further won the title four more times after this. It was during this time that he said that he would become the greatest actor. He arrived in the US in 1968 to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.

It was in 1970 however, when he made his first movie Hercules in New York. He made several movies after that like The Long Goodbye, Stay Hungry, Pumping Iron, The Villian and others. But his breakthrough movie was Conan the Barbarian in 1982 and the Terminator which made such a big noise in the 80’s.

His political career started when he appeared in the 1985 “Stop the Madness” video which was an anti-drug campaign of the Reagan Administration. His first political appointment from George H.W. Bush’s nomination, he became the chairman of President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports from 1990-1993.

He also became a Red Cross Ambassador between 1993 and 1994 and campaigned for people to give blood.

There were a lot of speculations on him going into politics however, it was on 2003 when he officially announced his candidacy. It was the August 6, 2003 episode of The Tonight Show with John Leno where he announced his candidacy in the 2003 California recall election for Governor of California and became the Governor of California on October 7, 2003. He was re-elected on November 7, 2006. As a Governor of California, he had planned and accomplished several projects.

His recent projects with President Obama are his Strategic Growth Plan which he is trying to convince the President to strengthen infrastructure investments for joined by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, his co-chairs in the Building America’s Future coalition, they believe that a new era of infrastructure investment in the United States, noting that a visionary national infrastructure policy can play a central role not only in fostering immediate job creation but also in establishing long-term U.S. economic competitiveness, addressing global warming and our dependence of fossil fuels, improving national security and enhancing quality of life and safety across the nation. Along with Washington Governor Chris Gregoire and White House Domestic Policy Council Director Melody Barnes in Los Angeles, Arnold co-host the fifth and last in a series of regional White House forums on health reform in connection to improving President Obama’s national effort to gain insight and input on the President’s own health care plan.
