Dave Batista's interview Dave Batista has recently revealed his thoughts about his plans in the World Wrestling Entertainment as he spoke with The Daily Mirror. He now only has one year left in his WWE contract and age and injuries are catching up with him. According to him, his status with the WWE will be known once his contract nears its end.

Batista has recently recovered from a major hamstring injury, which he suffered during a match in SummerSlam 2008. It was stated that his injury could force him out of the ring for 6-8 months but he made an early recovery. He was expected to be back on light duty sometime around May- July 2009 but he surprised everyone by appearing in the April 6 episode of RAW, running into the ring to save Triple H, Shane and Vince McMahon from a beat down from Randy Orton’s “Legacy” stable. His return was made secret by the WWE, with only a few people in the know. He was only brought into the arena minutes before the final segment and was hidden in a small room away from his fellow wrestlers.

He revealed that he has been working hard for the past 3 and a half months in order to participate in WrestleMania 25, even suggested to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon to use him an a match in the annual pay-per-view event. Vince initially looked into inserting him into a match but the plan was ultimately scrapped just a few days before the event.

This is the second major operation Batista had to undergo to repair a major injury. In 2005, he also injured his back muscle in an episode of Smackdown which required him to wear a protective brace during his matches. In January 2006, he had an operation to repair his right triceps which was injured during a match with Mark Henry, sidelining him for 7 months. “The Animal” would soon recover and made his way back to the ring on July that same year. Batista is now nearing 40 and his injuries are probably telltale signs of his body breaking down with age.

He also spoke recently about his opponent for the WWE Championship at Judgment Day, Randy Orton. Both Batista and Orton were part of the group Evolution and both have achieved great success after leaving the group behind. Batista has already held the World Heavyweight title four times while Orton is the current WWE Championship title holder, an accomplishment Batista has never achieved. He expressed his excitement on their upcoming match and he expects it to be a hard fought battle, with Orton’s “Legacy” stable mates possibly making things hard for him.

During his interview, he was asked if he was interested in turning heel again, similar to his days with Evolution. He mentioned that he would love to play villain once more as his time within the ring dwindles. So far, there are no plans in turning heel but he’s definitely open to the idea of ending his career as one. Additionally, he also plans to end his WWE days with a possible feud with John Cena.
Over the weekend, Batista was spotted as part of boxing hero Manny Pacquiao’s entourage to the ring against Ricky Hatton. Batista is a supporter of Hatton, as he was during Hatton’s fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. last December but he said that “Manny is almost like blood (referring to his Filipino roots) and he is in a league of his own”.
