Kroenke Sports Issues Statement on WWE Situation
The issue with Kronke Sports and WWE has been well documented the past couple of days and it’s no secret that shots have been and will be fired, most of these coming from McMahon’s side. Despite McMahon’s actions, Kroenke Sports haven’t really tried to come back in a manner that would position itself at par with the WWE in such matters. That is until Thursday, May 21, 2009. They released a statement about the issue and this is what they had to say:
“Despite the propaganda campaign launched by WWE and Chairman Vince McMahon, the KSE team maintained a professional manner throughout this process. We had hoped for, and worked hard toward an amicable resolution – which we verbally had on Tuesday. We understand there will be many disappointed WWE fans in the Denver area. It’s unfortunate and disappointing that WWE executives ultimately chose this path. The sensationalism employed by WWE in this instance is not surprising. The amount of publicity and coverage enjoyed by their group over the last few days has clearly become their new business goal instead of finalizing what we thought was a favorable solution and would have ultimately allowed their fans to attend the event.”
Personally, I think that Kroenke Sports made a huge mistake in the beginning by not trusting in their hometown team. While a deal could have been struck between the 2 camps and have the Raw taping moved to Sunday, May 24, the WWE would have never taken the compromise. McMahon probably felt that he had more to gain by bolting out of Denver and stage the show in Los Angeles instead. By doing so, not only will the WWE look like the clear victims, wronged by an irresponsible lapse in judgment by Kroenke Sports, but they will have also gained mainstream publicity and recognition. The right thing would have been to let it slide and take the Sunday night, stage the show, and leave the city. But where’s the fun in that? The issue has now gained steam and has been picked up by other news agencies, including ESPN. Looks like McMahon got what he wanted out of the situation. Now, I’ll be looking forward to Raw’s next episode where McMahon will make monkeys out of Kroenke Sports. Oh wait, he’s done that already.
