14th April 2009 – WWE ECW Highlights Complete Story
Knoxville, Tennessee – The Night of the Draft last Monday have brought change in the land of the Extreme. John Morrison had to compete on his own after losing his tag team partner The Miz. Although the loss of his fellow “Dirt Sheet”, who had helped him win the World Tag Team Championship, meant competing in a solo competition, John Morrison proved that to the WWE Universe that he is as good in solo competitions as he was when he earned his ECW title by defeating the high-flying Evan Bourne in an impressive win.
Another changed brought about by the Monday event is Vladimir Kozlov. The Moscow Mauler was drafted to ECW after Christian, the Captain Charisma, defeated Shelton Benjamin of Smackdown. Although, it was the first time for the Moscow Mauler in the land of the Extreme he was able to prove that it wouldn’t really matter which brand you’re in. And so after his match with a Local Athlete, Vladimir Kozlov announced that he dominated everywhere he competed and ECW will be no different. So will there be anyone in the Land of the Extreme’s roster to prove him otherwise?
In the Triple Threat Match for the Elimination Chase to Backslash, Christian, Finlay and the Dreamer continued to battle each other out to determine who will be the No. 1 contender to fight ECW Champion Jack Swagger. With the title on the line, the three fought a hard match. With Hornswoggle cheering for his father from the sidelines, Finlay fought the other two competitors with much determination. Although Christian fought a good fight, the Captain Charisma got trapped in the ring rope which made it impossible for him to interrupt the Irish while he pinned Tommy Dreamer for the win. And so for two weeks in a row, Finlay have prevailed in the Elimination Chase match which further narrow down the hunt Jack Swagger’s ECW Championship title. In the effort to stop change from affecting Backslash and his status atop the Extreme Brand, he wanted to have a question and answer timeslot however to his disappointment for his request was denied. And so the match for the No. 1 contender for the ECW Champion title, Jack Swagger’s title, was scheduled to happen on Thursday Night. This is the second major decision that the new ECW interim General Manager Tiffany has made since she took over the responsibilities of her former boss Theodore Long.
