A Christmas Carol (Jim Carrey) 2009 Full Movie Review The ever classic story of A Christmas Carol is relieved once again by Disney Animations. Like the old familiar story, Ebenezer Scrooge comes home on Christmas Eve and is troubled with several ghosts. With the artistic directorial powers of Robert Zemeckis along with his team of modern bang effects team of artists, the old Christmas story of a very cold and eery man came alive with animation used similarly in The Polar Express, five years ago.

If one would compare it to The Polar Express, this film is less creepy with its presented animated characters besides the fact the Scrooge’s story is already creepy for centuries. Somehow, one can say that Zemeckis has a problem with how to make the animation a little scary for the children audience. Fortunately, with the given creepiness already of the story and characters of A Christmas Carol, he was able to succeed in maintaining the looks of everything realistically.

A Christmas Carol (Jim Carrey) 2009 Full Movie Review The film was successful in coming up with a brand new setting and innovation to present a classic and old Christmas tale. And of course, the rest of the success depended greatly with a wonderful voice talent in the person of Jim Carrey. Aside from being the voice of Ebenezer Scrooge, he was also the voice talent for four different ghosts in the movie. His work with this film can be recognized as perfect.

A Christmas Carol (Jim Carrey) 2009 Full Movie Review However, the supposed to be emotional scenes in the story with Ebenezer’s nephew were never given much emphasis with all the flashy animation that will surely capture more the attention of the audience. Any audience might wonder if this film could have been better seen without the 3D component. It was originally a 3D film but most parts of the film suffered from poor lighting features especially during scenes when Scrooge walks his way through the night. Hence, it was harder to see clearly with the 3D glasses.

A Christmas Carol (Jim Carrey) 2009 Full Movie Review Nevertheless, on top of it all, Jim Carrey carries out his performance for the classic character really well with Zemeckis being successful in coming up with an all new animation for a classic story that is worth your time to watch. With a zesty animation and extremely creative effects, A Christmas Carol is an animated film that can surely frighten and make you happy all at the same time. Disney has given justice to the recreation of a Charles Dickens’ classic.
