Carlito (Carly Colón) Biography Carlito Colon is a Puerto Rican professional wrestler better known in his ring name as Carlito. He is one half of the current Unified WWE Tag Team champions with his brother, Primo.

Personal Life
Carlito was born on February 21, 1979 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to a family connected with pro wrestling. His full name is Carlos Edwin “CarlyColón, Jr. His father, Carlos Colon Sr., formerly worked with World Wrestling Federation so did his uncle Jose Colon and his cousin Orlando Colon. Carlito’s mother is Canadian and as a result of a retroactive Canadian Citizenship law passed on April 2009, he has also gained Canadian citizenship.

Wrestling Career
He began his wrestling career in 1999 in the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico where he would go on to capture its Universal Heavyweight Championship 11 times. Even though he had already signed a developmental contract for the WWE, he would still wrestle for WWC. As part of his contract, he was assigned to Ohio Valley Championship for training.

He debuted in SmackDown as Carlito Caribbean Cool, usually chomping down an apple and “spits on people who aren’t cool”. In his first ever match in SmackDown, Carlito defeated John Cena and captured the United States Championship. The program led to weeks of bitter rivalry but Carlito eventually lost the title back to Cena after he suffered a legitimate injury. To keep him in television even though he was injured, Carlito was entered in a program with then-SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long. In this comical angle, Carlito was forced to do menial chores around the arena for Long to keep his spot in the roster.

Carlito (Carly Colón) Biography Carlito was drafted to Raw in 2005, immediately making an impact as he captured the Intercontinental Championship from Shelton Benjamin. This made him the only wrestler to capture titles in his separate debuts for each WWE brand. He also had the chance to win the WWE title in an Elimination Chamber match, ultimately losing to John Cena. He formed a short-lived tag team with Chris Masters, whom he eventually feuded with. In their tag team title match against Kane and Big Show at Wrestlemania 22, Masters accidentally attacked Carlito, resulting to the loss.

He was then entered back into the Intercontinental Championship scene, competing and losing to Jeff Hardy. Ric Flair served as mentor to Carlito for a few months, leading to a match between them at Judgment Day 2007. Carlito was on the brink of exiting the WWE. He expressed his sentiments to be released from the company, citing backstage politics as the main reason. Although apparently discouraged in his position in the company, Vince McMahon was able to convince him to stay. After he was drafted back to SmackDown, he formed The Colons with his brother, Primo. They captured the WWE Tag Team Championship two weeks after his reappearance in SmackDown. At WrestleMania XXV, The Colons defeated The Miz and Morrison to unify both Tag Team titles. As of April 2009, Carlito is back on Raw as part of the 2009 Supplemental Draft.
