Michelle Leigh McCool was born on January 25, 1980 in Palatka, Florida. Before becoming a professional wrestler she was a sixth grade teacher in Palatka, Florida and has earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida State University. She played football before and after high school and has an older brother who played football at the University of Cincinnati.

She started her wrestling career during the 2004 WWE Diva Search where she was the fourth contestant to be eliminated. Even though she did not win the contest she was still signed to a 3 year contract on November 2004. She started out as a fan favorite on her debut in Smackdown and wrestled for the first time in a Smackdown match with The Big Snow defeating Dawn Marie and Renee Dupree on March 2, 2005. She then had several feuds with Dawn Marie and Melina Perez. Michelle was sent to WWE’s developmental facility, Deep South Wrestling where she provided commentary alongside Nigel Sherrod, performed interviews and hosted segments. Later on she started training in OVW where she also began managing Amish Roadkill and K.C. James.

She returned to Smackdown on June 2, 2006, she teamed with Kristal Marshall in a feud with Jillian Hall and Ashley Massaro. This feud led to a Fatal Four-Way Bra and Panties match at the Great American Bash where in Ashley won. Michelle was hospitalized on November 28 due to an enlarged kidney, an electrolyte imbalance and a broken sternum, during her absence KC James and Idol Steven were sent back to OVW. She was released on December 2 from the hospital.

She participated in a10 Diva tag team match on her return on the March 30, 2007 edition of Smackdown. On the May 28 edition of Raw, she won the Memorial Day Bikini Splash Battle Royal by defeating Melina. She has been caught in a feud with other divas, namely; Victoria, Torrie Wilson and Jillian Hall. Michelle won her second “Golden Dream” match on the July 4 edition of Smackdown where she earned the right to challenge Natalya (previous Dream match winner) for the first WWE Divas Champion. She defeated Natalya and became the inaugural Divas Champion on July 20, 2008 at the Great American Bash. She lost her Divas Championship to Maryse on the December 26 edition of Smackdown where Maria appeared as a special guest referee. She also took part in the 25 Divas Battle Royal in WrestleMania 25 making it to the final five where she and Mickie James got eliminated simultaneously.

Outside the ring, Michelle has appeared on the February 2, 2008 episode of Project Runway together with other WWE Divas and on June 3, 2008 she appeared with John Cena on the Best Damn Sports Show. She also appeared together with Eve Torres and Maryse on the January 2009 edition of Muscle and Fitness.
