Born on August 31, 1979, Mickie James is an American professional wrestler under World Wrestling Entertainment on its Raw brand. She was raised with her sister Latoya on a farm in Montpelier, Virginia. She is of Native American Heritage and started riding horses when she was eleven years old after her grandmother bought her a horse. She has a dog named Butch and has three Morgan horses named Rhapsody, Bunny and Casanova and plans to own a farm and be an equine trainer when she retires from wrestling. She finished an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration and is studying for her Bachelor of Arts degree in operations management. James is also a professional wrestling fan and used to watch wrestling matches along with her father. Her favorite wrestlers are Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair. James attended a professional wrestling school in Washington DC area and made her debut on the independent circuit in 1999 as a valet for KYDA Pro wrestling as Alexis Laree, from her nickname as a dancer and her middle name. She managed several male wrestlers including Tommy Dreamer who won the KYDA Pro Heavyweight Championship under her management. Her first match as a wrestler was in March 1999 in an inter-gender match with Jake Damian against Candie and Mike Brown. She also attended training camps such as Funking Conservatory run by Dory Funk Jr., Extreme Championship Wrestling dojo and camps run by Ricky Morton and Bobby Eaton to improve her wrestling abilities. However, due to low salary in the independent wrestling industry, she worked as a waitress at Olive Green restaurant and posed nude in the May 2000 issue of Leg Show magazine. She joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling while she was working for Ring of Honor. It was on March 26, 2003 where she teamed up with the Amazing Red against the X Division Champion Kid Kash and Trinity that brought the attention of the wrestling fans to James. She finally signed a developmental contract with WWE and trained at Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in August, two years after sending tapes, making phone calls and a wrestling tryout match with Dawn Marie. On October 10, 2005, James debuted as Mickie James in RAW as a Women’s Champion Trish Stratus’ biggest fan which then turned into an on-screen Lesbian relationship.

March 6, 2006, Stratus confronted James that they needed time apart from each other. Mach 18, 2006 when their relationship turned into hatred after Stratus pushed James away when James tried to kiss her. It was April 14, 2008 edition of Raw held in London when James won her fourth Women’s Championship match against Phoenix after winning and losing the title in 2007. Outside the wrestling world, Mickie appeared on an episode of The Jenny Jones Show titled “From Nerd to knockout” and represented WWE at the 2008 Republican Convention in an effort to persuade fans to register to vote in the 2008 Presidential election. April 13, 2008, she appeared in “Celebrity Fit Club Boot Camp with Layla, Melina and Kelly Kelly. She also played Rita “Lethal Weapon” Westwood in USA Network’s Pscyh on September 5, 2008. November 12, 2008, she had a special appearance in Redemption song with Candice Michelle, Maryse and Eve Torres.
