The Hurricane (Gregory Shane Helms) Biography Popularly known as Hurricane Helms, Gregory Helms is a professional ECW wrestler. He has started his career as a wrestler when he was 16 years old and has fought in a number of independent promotions. Until 1999, he spent most days of his career in North Carolina and won several championship matches under the Light Heavyweight Division.

During these years, he has teamed up with Mike Maverick and called their team Assault and Battery, which they changed to The Serial Thrllaz. They also wrestled for OMEGA or Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts established by the Hardy brothers. Helms’ team won several matches but he later on withdraws from The Serial Thrillaz and moved to National Wrestling Alliance or NWA Worldwide. He then teamed up with Christian York, Shannon Moore, and Joey Matthews under the team named Bad Street Boys.

 

The Hurricane (Gregory Shane Helms) Biography Together with Shannon Moore, who has become his friend, Helms went to World Championship Wrestling. They then formed another team with Evan Karagias known as 3 Count. This group was known as boy bands’ parody and would perform first prior to starting their matches and even create music videos. The group also took out Karagias from the group. Helms and Moore continued to fight as a tag team in WCW then go back to NWA Wildside to wrestle for a day. However, 25 contracts where bought by WWF including Helms’.

He debuted in WWF as The Hurricane in July 2001 and won several matches from then on. Aside from these matches, he also had several feud with The Rock. He was able to reveal his identity by tearing his mask in frustration with his partner Rosey did not do anything to help him to fight Kurt Angle, resulting to him receiving all the brutal attacks. The other matches caused him injuries that have given him a number of losses on his statistics.

But the major injury that caused him to walk out of WWE for some time is his neck injury that has two broken vertebrae on May of 2009. Since one of the vertebrae is pinching the spinal cord, he has to undergo operation then rested for a year.

 

The Hurricane (Gregory Shane Helms) Biography After resting, he went back to WWE as an interviewer. He returned in December 5, 2008 and defeated MVP. However, he did not win over Shelton Benjamin on a title match in SmackDown on the same month. But even after losing this match, he still went up the ring the following year as The Hurricane, the masked superstar who saves other wrestlers and defeated Burchill as his debut match.
