The Proposal is a 2009 American romantic comedy film which is due to be released on June 19, 2009 under Touchstone Pictures. The film is directed by Anne Fletcher (Hairspray, Step Up 2) and written by Pete Chiarelli.

The film’s plot start revolves around the lives of a boss and her assistant. Working in an American book publishing company named Colden Books, executive editor-in-chief Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is about to be deported due of her being a Canadian. She also has a difficult and demanding attitude to her colleagues. When the bad news came to her, she immediately told the company that she will be marrying her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds). Andrew was then clueless of what is happening, but he went with it since Margaret is his boss. He also agreed but has set some conditions as well since he is giving Margaret a favor. Margaret came to this idea since Andrew is an American and that she can force him to lie so he can also keep his job. If she will marry Andrew, then that makes her also an American, however, she do not think of marrying him, it is just to lengthen the time to can find a way not being deported back to Canada and keep her Visa status in the United States. She loves her job and also she wanted to get the Editor position in the company.

When the government started investigating them as a couple, they are forced to spend the weekend to Andrew’s parents in Alaska to sell the lie. This is for them to prove that they are really going to be married. She then meets Andrew’s quirky and so hospitable family. She also has shared a lot of things with Andrew including his bed since his family does not have any idea of their plan and current situation. There she also has experienced being with a happy family. As the time they spend together, they already have started falling in love for each other. Then an on-the-spot wedding happened with the immigration official checking on them, they have nothing else to do but stick to their plan despite of the consequences.

The musical score was recorded with the Hollywood Studio Symphony at the Sony Scoring Stage. And this was composed by Aaron Zigman. He was also the one who made the musical scoring for Step Up 2 and Sex and the City, the movie.
The film was rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) due to some nudity, sexual content and languages used.
The theatrical trailer for this movie shows the whole point of the movie, so it is more exciting to watch the full plot. The film will be much awaited by movie-goers, especially the month of June is a month of weddings. So the title fits it best.

I Love You, Man is about Peter Klaven adventures in meeting the right guy to be his best man. Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) is a girlfriend guy. He is one of those guys who would rather hang out with the girls more. Not that he is gay or anything. He just loves to hang out with girls. Not that it mattered to him, to his girlfriends nor his mom, truth is they love it. So things were going pretty well, until he got engaged with the girl of his dreams, Zooey Rice (Rashida Jones). It was then that he realized the importance of having a male best friend. For in a wedding it is only a male friend, the best friend of the groom who can stand as a best man.

So his mission of getting that special guy to be his best man in time for his wedding began. First stop, he sought the advice of his gay brother, Robbie (Andy Samberg), on meeting men. His brother advised him to invite men on lunch or after work drinks for platonic guy friends. His first attempt was to hang out with Barry (Jon Favrue) the husband of Denise (Jaime Presley), one of Zooey’s friends, for a poker night but ended up drinking too much and vomited on Barry. Next was a dinner with Doug which was setup by his mom (Jane Curtin). Robbie advised him not to go but out of desperation he went through with the setup.

The dinner ended up with Doug giving him a deep tongue kiss (I never knew dinner dates with a stranger signifies you’re interested in getting into a relationship above platonic). He also tried meeting friends online per advice of Robbie and met Mel, who represented himself as a young male but in reality is an old guy. With all the misfortunes that he has gone through, not to mention the experience of being tongue kissed by a guy, Peter decided to give up.

And then he met Sydney Fife during an open house at Lou Ferrigno’s. They hit it off after Sydney gives him a play-by-play of a potential buyer farting. Their friendship hit it off to the delight of Zooey as Peter and Sydney started to hang out with each other more. However, Zooey wasn’t that ecstatic about the friendship though when certain things in their relation started to change as Peter and Sydney’s relationship developed. Peter and Zooey’s hangout time have lessened and she got ignored every now and then when the two are together. And so it reached to the point where Peter had to choose between the love of his life and his new found friendship.

The Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is a 2009 comedy film under 20th Century Fox. This American adventure film is a sequel of the Night of the Museum that was released in 2006. This film is directed by Shawn Levy. The film is starred by Ben Stiller (The Heartbreak Kid), Robin Williams (License to Wed), Owen Wilson (Shanghai Knights), Amy Adams (Enchanted) and many more.

Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) was working in the Museum of Natural History as a night watchman. It is closed for renovations. So the museum art pieces are moved at the famous Washington Museums. President Theodore Roosevelt (Robin Williams) was still on the film, together with his love interest Sacagawea (Mizuo Peck). The before enemies Jedediah Smith (Owen Wilson) and Octavius (Steve Coogan) are now good friends on their new environment. The Smithsonian Institution houses more than 136 million items that includes Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams).

Since the Museum of Natural History is closed for the moment, Larry was also hired as another caretaker at the Smithsonian. From there he met new friends and also potential enemies that include an evil pharaoh named Kahmunrah. He is the main antagonist of the film looking for the magical tablet so he can bring his allies to life. Those allies are General Custer and Al Capone. General Custer ( ) is an officer and cavalry commander of the American Civil War and Indian Wars while Al Capone is an Italian-American gangster who led a crime syndicate dedicated to smuggling and other illegal activities during the Prohibition Era of the 1920s. Larry developed a romantic interest to Amelia Earhart; within pursue to stop the evil pharaoh.

This movie is filmed in the actual Smithsonian in Washington DC. This is the first time since many Hollywood films were turned down to use the location. They have used more CGI on this film than the previous Night of the Museum movie. That includes mobilizing paintings and statues like The Thinker. Most of the cast of the previous film have a comeback and many more were added. The computer graphics are more realistic and funny. This film is an adventure movie that will excite expecting movie-goers.

The film is set to be released on May 22, 2009 for Memorial Day. The song “Fly with me” by the Jonas Brothers will be the closing credit soundtrack.

There is a video game of the same name that was released last May 5, 2009. This game was developed by Amaze Entertainment.

The Brothers Bloom is an American film which is set to have a limited released on May 15, 2009. And there is a wide release on May 29, 2009. This is a heist film starred by Mark Ruffalo (Zodiac), Adrien Brody (Kingkong), Rinko Kikuchi (Babel) and Rachel Weisz (The Mummy Returns). This is directed by Rian Johnson under Summit Entertainment.

The film’s plot is about the Brothers Bloom who are one of the greatest con artists. The brothers were Stephen (Mark Ruffalo) and Bloom (Adrien Brody). They started tricking people back when they were children, and from then they live their lives stealing from different people to millionaires. They work together with a silent sidekick named Bang-bang (Rinko Kikuchi) who is an explosive expert. Stephen is the one who does the planning while Bloom is the one who always go near the victims and the one to feel the guilt in the end. Bloom tried to quit because he wanted to have a good life. He went drunk then Stephen finds him and offered him one last job and then he can quit after doing it.

They are up to a one last job and that is to steal from a wealthy heiress named Penelope Stamp (Rachel Weisz). She is a lonely eccentric girl who believes she has less time. She wanted to do a different or strange kind of adventure. The con men took advantage of her loneliness. But the plan was complicated from the moment Bloom fell in love with Penelope. The moment she discovered that they are con men; she decided to be one of them as well.

The film is not any kind of film that the audience can just predict what happen, it is like having to guess who was being conned and who is not. From different reviews, most movie critics love the plot since it is not boring. The cinematic, costumes and the steamships will remind audience about the Wes Anderson films. It is a quirk-filled film of a con game and love story at the same time. It is a smart film as it is entertaining. The director Rian Johnson was awarded of Outstanding Achievement in Directing at the Newport Beach Film Festival.

The film originally has a release date last January 2009 but was pushed to May 2009. As Summit Entertainment informed, this is because of the many similar films that were being released in January. Last, April 23, 2009, the online streaming video site Hulu posted the first seven minutes of the film.
