Edge who is currently recovering from his Achilles tendon injury stated that he has been doing therapy and feels that his situation is improving unlike before when he was still on crutches. Now, he can already walk and even wear his shoes. Aside from his update about his injury, he also stated that he will be back next year so be sure to watch for it all of you WWE fans!

Edge is going to be out for a while due to some promotional tasks on Australia and will be attending Steve Irwin Day on the 15th of November.

It has been nearly a decade (9 full years, to be exact) since Triple H has ranked number one on Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s annual PWI 500 list, but this year, Triple H is back on top and as such, he is a repeat winner. The mag will be available on newsstands everywhere on August 18th (for all you diehards.) Following Triple H in the rankings are Chris Jericho, John Cena, Edge, Randy Orton, Nigel McGuinness, Hiroshi Tanhashi, CM Punk, Sting and Ultimo Guerrero.

Featured on the cover of the latest issue of Power Slam mag is Edge; the magazine poses a very relevant question. “Can the WWE replace its long (and growing ever longer) list of inactive headliners with fresher stars??”

For those of you who are still wondering when you may again see Edge on WWE, the news is fairly bleak at this point. It is still estimated that he will be out for the rest of the calendar year, and best-case scenario will have him making his triumphant return at next year’s Royal Rumble.

According to sources at the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Chairman Mr. McMahon is distinctly “on edge” and “unhappy with the product now” in reference to the total WWE package as of late. Indeed, due to the lack of real excitement and/or depth during the recent Night of Champions main event. While this was primarily due to the traumatic injuries of Edge, Batista and their ilk, the reason behind the floundering roster is really irrelevant at this point. Indeed, McMahon is said to be terribly frustrated and worried about the fact that his stars seem to be fading at an incredibly rapid rate.

Also, many roster members have criticized the powers that be at the WWE regarding the fact that they have not more heavily promoted big name up-and-comers like MVP and Swagger. Indeed, it is inconceivable why some of these heavy-hitting big names have been regaled to mid-level draws.

Within the WWE, most of the blame for faltering ratings has been placed directly on the lack of developmental to produce high-quality, prime-time ready talent and entertainment.

As you previously read on this site, immediately following Edge’s devastating Achilles tendon injury earlier in the week, the WWE planned not to acknowledge the incident until during or after Friday’s Smackdown show, as it has already been taped, and because Edge gets involved in the ring in a big way during the night. However, as news of Edge’s injury has been leaked in a huge way through various spoiler and gossip sites, the powers that be at the WWE have already scrapped their original plan.

However, despite the failure of the WWE to fabricate a believable and entertaining story line that incorporates Edge’s debilitating injury, they are going to have to pull together and get their collective creative juices flowing to figure out a way to work around the scheduling of WWE United Tag Team Champs Chris Jericho and Edge’s title defending bout at the upcoming Night of Champions event. Indeed, their challengers Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase have been chomping at the bit to get their collective hands on the title, but WWE has had long term and well-constructed plans for Edge and Jericho’s tag team partnership, even going so far as to create and mix new entrance music and come up with a team name for the pair. A couple of the ideas being tossed around as far as team names were Team Ego and Team Rated Y2J. Now, obviously, all of those big and expensive plans have now had to be scrapped or at least put on hold for quite some time.

As was previously reported, immediately following Edge’s injury, the WWE began to come up with creative ways to get the belts off of the current United Tag Team Champions and onto Rhodes and DiBiase. Unfortunately, on a recent episode of Raw (taped before Edge’s ankle injury), Ted DiBiase Sr. announced for all the world to hear that absolutely no title matches would be fought before the Night of Champions on the 26th of July. This leaves fans wondering how in the world the head honchos as the WWE are going to fill up 2 weeks of wrestling without clearly addressing the issue. And plans for their newly altered story line are not forthcoming.

How this confusing and difficult situation may be resolved is anybody’s guess, and the potential solutions get even more difficult to discern when you take into consideration that DiBiase is currently nursing an injured shoulder, and has himself missed some matches recently.

It has been rumored that the idea of having Edge come onto the set himself and hand over his belt to Dolph Ziggler in a ceremonious event at one of the upcoming tapings. This would give Ziggler’s career a huge boon, and afford him the opportunity to partner with Jericho himself, potentially replacing Edge completely in the WWE’s eyes, and allowing them to move forward with their previous plans with very little alteration.

Of course, ideas and plans can change in an instant at the WWE, so only time will tell if they will stick with this plan, or move on to something bigger and better and even more well designed to bring in viewership.

According to eyewitness reports, Edge was seriously injured at the SmackDown/ECW event in San Diego on July 3rd, during his match with fellow big-name wrestler, Jeff Hardy. According to reports, while running toward Hardy, (only roughly 60-90 seconds into the bout) Edge suddenly wore a painful expression and his foot appeared to be twisted into a distorted-looking and very awkward position, and it looked to those in attendance that his ankle might be sprained or even broken. Immediately, the match was stopped and EMT’s swarmed the ring, running to Edge and assisting him out of the ring. On his way to the exam area, Edge stopped and said “sorry” to his loyal fans into the microphone.

Later, Dave Metzler stated that the injury was determined to be a probable torn Achilles tendon. If this is true, Edge’s near future will be fraught with surgery (possibly more than one), a lot of down time, and rehab. In fact, an injury of this magnitude may put Edge out of commission until sometime in 2010. As one half of the much-touted WWE Unified Tag Team Champions, Edge can ill afford such a potentially devastating injury, and fans are in turmoil over the potential long-term outing of one of their favorite stars.

Rumor has it that the big guns at WWE are reviewing the taped footage of a recent bout between Edge and The Great Khali (which is set to air on SmackDown on Friday, July 10) to see if they can find a point in which it looks as though Edge may have injured himself, as they are going to need an explanation for his devastating injury, and it is going to have to keep with their current story line. Let’s see if they come up with something believable.

UPDATE: It has been reported by numerous sources that Edge’s injury was, in fact, a torn Achilles tendon, that it did require surgery (which the superstar has already undergone), and that he is doing as well as can be expected, which is great news. Unfortunately, the star can’t be on his feet for about two weeks, and has a long road to recovery ahead of him. It has been estimated that Edge will be out of commission for months, being unable to set foot in the ring again until 2010’s Royal Rumble. And that is a conservative estimate, assuming that his injury heals well and that no further complications arise. While no official statement has yet been made by the WWE, you can expect the injury to play a big role in Friday’s SmackDown. In fact, many people are already laying wagers on how much the WWE will try to capitalize on Edges unfortunate injury. Stay tuned for the latest updates.

You’ve gotta love Pay Per View wrestling! Nothing makes you feel more like a fan than watching exclusive coverage along with the rest of the die hards. Fortunately, The Bash was pro-wrestling drama at its finest, and it included some of the best bouts in recent history.

While some of the bouts ended up pretty much the way people expected them to, others were complete surprises. Like the Unified Tag Team match – the players ended up changing at the last minute, and inexplicably, the new Unified Tag Team champs are (drum roll please…) Edge and Chris Jericho.

If you are asking yourself how in the world something like this could have happened, you are not alone. And no, your eyes are not deceiving you. Somehow, Edge finagled his way into the PPV match (he hasn’t missed one while healthy in a decade), and history was born. One more time, for you non-believers: Edge and Chris Jericho are your new Unified Tag Team champions!!!

Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Championship
Unfortunately for Chris Jericho, he wasn’t able to continue his winning streak. In fact, in his bout against Rey Mysterio ended his reign as Intercontinental Champ. And the spectators agree, it was pretty much all because of his infatuation with Rey Mysterio’s trademark mask. While Jericho was attempting to unmask his opponent in front of a huge crown and PPV audience, Mysterio was able to move in for a lightning-fast pin. Mask and all.
  

WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Triple H in Three Stages of Hell Match
It was Triple H versus Randy Orton in the Three Stages of Hell match. Going into the bout, Triple H was the clear favorite. This was because he was the only fighter to have competed in and won fights similar to this prior to The Bash. However, Randy Orton was able to end the night with his championship belt still intact, by way of Triple H’s disqualification. (Hey, when the judges say no bashing with chairs, that means no bashing with chairs, yo.)

Michelle McCool vs. Melina for the Women’s Championship
The Women of the WWE have a new champion. And her win made history, no less. Michelle McCool virtually clobbered her opponent, the ranking champ Melina. The win makes Michelle the first woman in WWE history to hold the Diva’s Championship and the Woman’s Championship simultaneously. Hot and a badass; what more can you ask for?

Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk (c) for World Heavyweight Championship
In a shocking upset, Jeff Hardy was again denied the title of World Heavyweight Champion by CM Punk. Even after pummeling CM Punk and being declared the victor, Hardy was destined to walk away from the bout empty handed. Upon closer inspection of the footage of the fight, it was determined that Punk had been out of bounds when the win was declared. Result: Hardy was disqualified and Punk retained his title and bragging rights. Not to go quietly into the night, Jeff Hardy pummeled Punk mercilessly as he exited the ring. It took three refs to put a stop to the insanity. Unfortunately for Jeff Hardy, his beating of Punk got him no closer the title he covets.

John Cena vs. The Miz
After weeks of being verbally assaulted and listening to the fabricated tales that have been mercilessly spewed by The Miz, John Cena finally got his night in the ring. And dealt out a brutal beating that The Miz would be smart to remember the next time he considers trash talking. But is he smart enough to keep his mouth shut? My Magic 8 Ball thinks not.

Fatal Four Way Match for The United States Championship
The PPV kicked thing off with a Fatal Four Way for the WWE United States title with Kofi Kingston defending his title against MVP, Matt Hardy, and William Regal. Kingston was at a disadvantage as his rivals didn’t need to pin him in order to win the title. The scramble ends with Kingston retaining his title after he connects with a Trouble in Paradise on William Regal for the pin fall.

Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio in No Holds Barred Match for The Intercontinental Championship
We see Chris Jericho against Rey Mysterio for Mysterio’s WWE Intercontinental Championship in a No Holds Barred match. Chris Jericho comes from the crowd before the match and cuts a promo. He’s at the merchandise stands full of Mysterio masks, insulting Mysterio for hiding behind a mask and deceiving little children. Jericho ends up winning the Intercontinental Title for the record 9th time! Mysterio goes for a 619 on Jericho but misses, Jericho then grabs Mysterio’s mask off and follows it up with a roll up for the pin. Mysterio runs up the ramp covering his face as Jericho celebrates his win in the ring.

CM Punk vs. Umaga
The next match pits CM Punk against Umaga in a Samoan Strap match. In order to win, the competitors must consecutively touch the pads in each corner while a strap is used to tie both men together. Punk wins this contest after executing a Go to Sleep on Umaga, knocking him unconscious. Punk then goes ahead and touches the last pad to gain the victory.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian vs. Jack Swagger for The ECW Championship
Backstage, Gregory Helms interviews ECW Champion Christian about the Triple Threat match against Tommy Dreamer and Jack Swagger. He jokes about Dreamer’s body looking like a melting candle. Dreamer then joins the interview and the two competitors start to argue. Swagger comes in wanting to talk but Christian and Dreamer both walk away before Swagger could start.

We now go to the Triple Threat match for the ECW Championship. If Dreamer loses the match, then it will be his final match ever in the WWE. Weapons are aplenty in the match since it’s under extreme rules. The finish saw Swagger plant Christian’s face in the exposed turnbuckle and attempts a Gutwrench Powerbomb. Dreamer then hits a cracking Singapore cane across Swagger’s chest and drops Christian. Swagger then falls victim to a vicious DDT from Dreamer. Dreamer goes for the cover and becomes the new ECW Champion.

Santina Marella vs. Vickie Guerrero in Hog Pen Match for Miss WrestleMania
Next, we see Jerry Lawler interviewing Raw GM Vickie Guerrero about her upcoming Hog Pen match against Santina Marella. She then turns it into a handicap match by adding her nephew Chavo Guerrero on her side to the match, much to his chagrin. Santina was able to pin Vickie after Chavo accidentally throws slop on Vickie after Santina ducks. Santina then pours slop over Chavo and covers his head with a bucket. Santina punches the bucket then turns on Vickie to get the pin. Santina goes up the ramp celebrating while Chavo and Vickie are both covered in mud.

Batista vs. Randy Orton in Steel Cage Match
The steel cage is lowered for the WWE Championship match with Randy Orton defending the title against Batista. Legacy was unable to help their leader retain the title because of the steel cage. Randy Orton tried several times to escape but was hit with a Batista Bomb and lost the WWE Championship to Batista. Batista climbs up the cage, holds the title up high and shouts, “This is for you, Ric!”

John Cena vs. Big Show (Submission Match)
John Cena tried to lock in the STF on the Big Show several times but due to the giant’s size, Cena was only able to apply the hold at the finish. The Big Show looked like his was going to get the win as he locked Cena in a bear hug. However, Cena was able to break free and hits a leg drop off the ropes, locks the STF on Big Show. The Big Show then taps out and Cena wins the Submission Match!

Jeff Hardy vs. Edge for the World Heavyweight Champion
The last match of the night had Edge defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Jeff Hardy in a Ladder Match. Edge was able to get his hand on the title but Hardy was able to pull Edge’s legs and trap them in between the ladders. Hardy then climbs up and gets his prize, the World Heavyweight Championship.

Jeff Hardy celebrates his title win but CM Punk’s music hit and he will be cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase! Punk hits the GTS on Hardy but Hardy was able to kick out after a 2 count. Hardy counters into an inside cradle, nearly pinning Punk. CM Punk then kicks Hardy and connects on another GTS, he covers Hardy and gets the win! CM Punk spoils Jeff Hardy’s party and becomes the new World Heavyweight Champion!
