SmackDown kicks off with pyros going crazy in the building as the SmackDown announce team of Jim Ross and Todd Grisham promises us a great show. Josh Matthews is in the ring and introduces Jeff Hardy.

Jeff Hardy comes out to the ring to a huge pop from the fans. He cuts a promo about how he won the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules, only for it to be taken away when CM Punk cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. They also showed the ending of their triple-threat match at Raw where Jeff Hardy virtually had the title in hand after hitting Edge with a Swanton Bomb. Punk then pulls Hardy out of the ring and pin Edge to steal the victory.

CM Punk now comes out to the ring and joins Hardy. He takes the mic and explains that he had never stolen anything and that he earned the right to be the World Heavyweight Champion. Punk then hypes The Bash where he will face Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Championship. Josh Matthews asks the crowd to give it up for Jeff Hardy and the crowd cheers. When it was Punk’s turn, the audience boos him as we go to a break.

Jeff Hardy vs. Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho
After the break, Jeff Hardy is in a match against Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho in a non-title match. Jericho had control of the match after ramming Hardy several times into the barricade. Jericho pushes Hardy back into the ring and the referee tends to Hardy. Out of nowhere, Rey Mysterio jumps out of the crowd and hits Jericho with a hurracanrana, smashing Jericho’s face into the steel ring post! Mysterio jumps back into the crowd and starts counting out Jericho. Apparently, the referee didn’t see Mysterio attack Jericho while he was tending to Hardy. The ref counts to 10 and Hardy has won this match via count out!

After he recovers, Jericho tries to plead his case to the ref but to know avail. As Jericho turns, he runs into a Twist of Fate followed by a Swanton Bomb!
  

Dolph Ziggler vs. The Great Khali
Dolph Ziggler is backstage trying to cut a conversation with Maria, Eve, and Layla. After the women brush him off, he goes out to the ring for his match against The Great Khali. Ziggler slaps Khali in the face and quickly runs away from the giant. The referee pulls Ziggler to the middle of the ring and Khali catches him. Khali is now in control and sends Ziggler screaming after a slap in the chest.

Ziggler goes to the turnbuckle after dropping Khali. He tries to expose the turnbuckle but Ranjin Singh stops him. The referee now goes to the corner to fix the turnbuckle. Ziggler goes out of the ring to grab a chair but Khali slaps it out of his hands. Ziggler does an Eddie Guerrero and plays dead while the ref catches Khali with the chair, causing a disqualification. Ziggler gets one on Khali once more!

Melina vs. Alicia Fox
The next match saw Women’s Champ Melina go up against Alicia Fox. Alicia had the match under control, contorting Melina’s body with an inverted Camel Clutch. Fox then chokes Melina on the top rope. The ref forces Alicia to release the hold, prompting her to attempt a clothesline on Melina but the Women’s Champ turns it into a crucifix and a Sunset Flip Powerbomb for the win!

After the match, Michelle McCool and lays the beat down on Melina. She grabs Melina and kicks her head into the announcers’ table. Michelle then tells Melina that come The Bash, not only will Michelle defeat her, but humiliate her in the process.
  

Edge vs. John Morrison
After the commercial break, Edge is in the ring in a scheduled match against John Morrison. Edge complains that he should get another rematch since the triple-threat match at Raw didn’t count. John Morrison comes out and calls Edge a crybaby for complaining about everything else. Both men traded shots during their match and it could be a turning point in John Morrison’s career. Morrison had Edge set up for the Starship Pain but Edge moved away. Although Morrison landed on his feet, Edge impales him with a Spear! Edge covers Morrison and gets the win. Edge looks like he just won the match by the closest of margins.
  

R-Truth & Cryme Tyme vs. Ricky Ortiz, Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin
The next match was between R-Truth and Cryme Tyme against Ricky Ortiz, Charlie Haas, and Shelton Benjamin. The finish saw all men together inside the ring but Ortiz clocks Shad out of the ring while JTG sends Haas crashing out with a dropkick. Shelton Benjamin has his sights on R-Truth, jumps off the top rope only to meet R-Truth’s boot. R-Truth goes for the Scissors Kick but Benjamin leap frogs. Benjamin, however, could not avoid a corkscrew elbow smash and R-Truth pins Benjamin for the win!

World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio comes out to the ring and issues a challenge to Chris Jericho for a match at The Bash for the Intercontinental Championship. Jericho comes out and insults Mysterio and the fans, telling Mysterio that the opportunity has passed during their match at Raw. Jericho then changed his mind: he will lay his Intercontinental Championship on the line if Mysterio puts his mask on the line. Mysterio accepts and we have a new match for The Bash!

Jericho now joins the announce team while Mysterio takes on CM Punk in a non-title match. Toward the end of the match, Mysterio had Punk readied for a 619 but Punk moves away and attempts a GTS on Mysterio. Mysterio grabs the ropes and Punk sends him crashing outside the ring. Jericho grabs the opportunity and smashes Rey’s head into the steel post! Jericho wanted Mysterio to be counted out but he manages to climb back to the ring. Punk then capitalizes and hits the GTS on Rey for the win.

Jeff Hardy then runs into the ring and asks Punk “What just happened?” Punk answers him, “What was I supposed to do?” Punk grabs his WHC belt and leaves the ring as the show comes to a close.
